👀 How to coordinate this training:



1. Explain the exercise

Start by going through one question together with the group. Demonstrate how to search for information using a web search engine. Point out that some search engines provide AI-generated summaries at the top of results.


Take a moment to explain what these AI summaries are:

  • What kind of information they show

  • How they are generated

  • Why they might be helpful


Then, guide participants on how to evaluate the reliability of the summaries:

  • Does the summary link to trustworthy sources?

  • Are multiple sources saying the same thing?

  • Can the information be verified by visiting the actual pages?


Once the group understands how to check reliability, participants can complete the retrieval exercise individually or in small groups, depending on what suits your session best.

  1. Discussions

In small groups or as a whole group, find the answers to the following questions

  • Name two search filters that help narrow down your search.

  • Does using uppercase or lowercase letters affect the search results?

  • How can you verify that the information you found is reliable?

3. Extra task

  • Find out what reverse image search is and test how it works (on desktop and mobile). Search for information, pictures and videos on a topic of your choice.

  • Explain how to reverse image search, for watch a video together such as How To Reverse Image Search (Google)

  • Compile the answers into a word processing document and send it as an email attachment to the trainer.

  • Search for information, pictures and videos on a topic of your choice.
