1. Discussion

Discuss how learners use their mobile devices and how to make the most of the features.


Discussion questions:

  • What kind of things do you do on your phone?

  • Can you use and edit the top menu?

  • Can you edit the wallpaper?

  • Do you know how to update the software?

  • Do you know how to download and uninstall an application?

  • Do you know how to use an electronic calendar?

  • Do you know how to back up pictures, contacts, WhatsApp conversations, etc. from your phone?

  • Do you know how to reset your phone to factory settings?

  • When do you need to do this?

2. Check each question together

Depending on the learners' skill level and knowledge, you can take your time to go through each step together and check if they are able to do each action or some of the actions that are important for them.

Tips for Leading Discussion Questions

  • What kind of things do you do on your phone?

→ Discuss common uses: calls, messaging, photos, social media, banking, etc.


  • Can you use and edit the top menu (quick settings)?

→ Show how to swipe down and access toggles (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, torch).

→ Guide them to rearrange or add icons.


  • Can you edit the wallpaper?

→ Demonstrate changing wallpaper via gallery or settings.


  • Do you know how to update the software?

→ Walk through checking for system updates.

→ Explain benefits: better security and features.


  • Do you know how to download and uninstall an app?

→ Open app store, search, download, and uninstall examples.

→ Discuss when to uninstall apps to save space.


  • Do you know how to use the electronic calendar?

→ Add an event, set a reminder, explore repeating events.

→ Show syncing with Google/Apple accounts.


  • Do you know how to back up your data (photos, contacts, WhatsApp)?

→ Explain cloud backups (Google Drive/iCloud).

→ Demonstrate backing up and restoring key data.


  • Do you know how to reset your phone to factory settings?

→ Show location in settings.

→ Remind them this erases all data, so don't forget to back up their data.


  • When should you reset your phone?

→ If selling it, experiencing major issues, or starting fresh.

  • Take your time with each topic.

  • Check in regularly to see if learners can perform the actions.

  • Adapt the pace based on individual knowledge and comfort.

  • Focus on the most relevant actions for each learner’s needs.
